Many people spend a great deal of time watching different programs on TV whether or not they know that some programs may have negative influence on their life. TV opponents, myself included, are of the opinion that very often there is nothing worth watching on TV, although there are some people looking immensely enthusiastic about spending their spare time on TV.
On the one hand, watching TV is that it is considered a basic commodity for entertaining especially for the elderly and children. Sometimes parents find no other choice to amuse their children in their free time. As a result, it seems the only best option. In addition, in spite of the fact that there are always some gross exaggerations on TV, it can at times be a great source of information for catching the latest news of the world.
On the other hand, some programs shown on TV seem really unsuitable to watch especially for people having some psychological problems. For instance, watching violent movies may impact on their behavior when they face the criminal scenes. In some cases, these sorts of movies might have bad effects on children too, because children always try to imitate and this can lead to a catastrophe.
Another disadvantage of watching too much TV is the health hazard. Some may prefer watching TV to doing regular exercises which is necessary for their bodies. Consequently, it may endanger the health and well-being of the individuals.
To sum up, TV is considered both beneficial and destructive. It can be not only a useful cognitive means, but also a tool for learning how to act brutaly. Therefore, it depends on what we want and how we use it.
