Masdar Institute is an independent, not-for-profit, research driven, graduate institution. It is developed in cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA to follow the standards for research and education similar to MIT. The institute is located in Abu Dhabi in Masdar City, a carbon neutral and a zero waste sustainable city to be powered solely by alternative energy. During their Masters and PhD studies, students are taking classes and pursuing research in their selected field. A thesis is submitted at the end of the program. While peers and faculty represent over 30 different nationalities, all instruction is conducted in English. The institute is working with local accreditation entities to launch its PhD program as early as January 2013.
Requirements:+ undergraduate degree in engineering or physics for MSc program;
+ Masters degree for PhD program;+ GRE quantitative score of at least 700;
+ TOEFL score of at least 91 or academic IELTS score of at least 6.5;
+ statement of objectives;
+ 3 references;
+ Research proposal (for PhD applicants);
Applications are welcome from students from all parts of the world. Theres is no application fee.
Scholarship benefits
Scholarships/research assistantships, providing full financial support, including all tuition fees, medical insurance, housing, travel expenses, laptops and cost of living allowances;
+ Access to cleanrooms and an electron microscopy lab;
+ Opportunities to work in laboratories with state-of-the art equipment.
