Research Fellow Position : UAV Communications and Localization
The Centre for Smart Systems (CS2) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is working on the development of technologies to support smart, sustainable and safe cities. We plan to create impactful applications for large-scale deployments relevant to the Smart Nation initiative of Singapore.
We are developing a novel Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based imaging system for inspection of deep hazardous tunnels, in particular the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) of Singapore. We will address significant and exciting challenges in the communications, sensing, localization and navigation of UAVs in hazardous and GPS-denied underground tunnel environments.
We are inviting applications for the following Research Fellow position.
Responsibilities :
* Design and develop techniques for the communications, sensing,
localization and navigation of UAVs in a tunnel environment.
* Involve in the development of the imaging system for tunnel inspection.
* Perform deployment, testing and performance evaluation of the system
in the DTSS.
* Help to mentor junior members of the team.
Requirements :
* A PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering, or related fields. Will consider excellent PhD candidates
who are close to graduation.
* Substantial research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
wireless communications, wireless networks, sensor networks, localization.
* Excellent experience in developing system software.
* Excellent hands-on experience in platform technologies such as Linux,
real-time OS, etc.
* Excellent experience on wireless network protocols.
* Excellent programming skills in C/C++, Java, etc.
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

* Great interest and desire to be a productive researcher.
* Good publication record in reputable journals or conferences.
* Innovative, resourceful, and self-motivated.
* A team player with good people skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
